Road closure to affect west end of Buffalo Trail,
Castle Pines Parkway

Feb. 18, 2009 — The City of Castle Pines North is working with Douglas County on a road closure and detour plan for the west end of Buffalo Trail Road and Castle Pines Parkway.

The west end of those roads will be closed beginning Feb. 23 to build a new roundabout intersection. Depending on weather, the work is expected to be completed by April 1. Electronic detour signs will be used to direct local traffic around and on Buffalo Trail Road, Castle Pines Parkway and Monarch Boulevard. (See map below.)

"Closing the west end of the affected roads is necessary to allow construction of the roundabout. Because this roundabout will be constructed with concrete instead of asphalt — extending the overall life of this project — this street improvement will benefit the community for many years in the future. We appreciate residents' patience as this project progresses," said Eric Guth, director of public works for the City of Castle Pines North.

In addition to the roadway, crews will be constructing curbs, a center landscaped island, medians and related improvements. The time needed for completion of all of these improvements is built into the project schedule.

At the project site, there will be an emergency access bypass to allow emergency vehicles to travel through the affected area without interruption.
