March 4, 2009 — If a crisis, natural disaster or other emergency affects your family, will you be ready to respond?
If you would like to learn more about how to handle emergencies, please attend the free
Community Emergency Response Training program, scheduled in April for residents of Castle Pines North.
The series of six classes will be hosted by the
Douglas County Office of Emergency Management and the
Colorado North Central All-Hazards Emergency Management Region.
"It's a great class that will be extremely beneficial to a tight-knit community such as Castle Pines North," says Carol Langley-Finnegan, chair of the Castle Pines
Safety Task Force. "We are very fortunate to have this training come to our community. There is no charge for the training and all materials will be provided."
The program is designed to teach people how to respond in any emergency situation, man-made or natural, and how to how to help out yourself, your families and your neighbors. Attendees will learn about the CERT program, disaster preparedness, natural hazards, light search and rescue, fire safety and suppression, disaster medical and public health.
Each of the six classes is limited to about 24 people. It is not necessary to attend every session.

The six class dates and times are:
- April 14, 16, 21 and 23 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
- April 18 and 25 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
