March 18, 2009 — The Castle Pines North City Council and the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners voted to extend an intergovernmental agreement for the county to provide law enforcement services for the city.

The county had committed to provide law enforcement services to the city for one year following the incorporation of Castle Pines North on Feb. 12, 2008. Through the new agreement, Douglas County will continue to provide law enforcement services, initiated Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2009, within the city boundaries.
"We are extremely pleased to solidify this agreement between the City of Castle Pines North and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office," says Mayor Maureen Shul. "The service and support we have received from Sheriff David A. Weaver and the entire Douglas County Sheriff's Office has been exemplary. We look forward to a continued, strong relationship."
City Manager Alan Lanning and Douglas County Lt. Troy A. McCarty will administer city law enforcement. Douglas County has the authority to provide law enforcement, by the Douglas County Sheriff, within the boundaries of the city, which is located in District 06 on the
