Aug. 26, 2009 — Tomorrow night's City Council meeting, 7 p.m. at the CPN Community Center,
7404 Yorkshire Drive, will include a public hearing of the first draft of the city's Comprehensive Plan. The draft document (5.1 MB) is available for
review on the city's Web site.
The principal purpose of the City of Castle Pines North Comprehensive Plan is to
serve as a guide for formulating policies regarding growth and
development within the city.
The Plan encompasses five key goals:
- To serve as an advisory document for guidance regarding
zoning actions, subdivision regulations, the land use map and annexation
decisions.
- To serve as the basis for community programs and
making decisions for capital budget recommendations, community development,
water protection, housing and recreation or open space land acquisition.
- To serve as a standard for review at the county
and state level. Master plans are key documents used to aid in the development
of regional plans, or specific plans such as transportation plans and economic
development plans.
- To serve as a long-term guide for review of public
and private proposed plans that may affect the physical, social and economic
settings of the Castle Pines North community.
- To serve as a guide to preserve public health, safety
and welfare in the Castle Pines North community.
By having an effective
Comprehensive Plan in place, orderly development of land within the city's
jurisdiction will take place. Participate in the development of this plan; come to the City Council meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the CPN Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive.
