Castle Pines North considers first reading of
The Canyons annexation

Aug. 27, 2009 — The Castle Pines North City Council will consider on first reading six ordinances related to The Canyons' annexation and zoning applications at tonight's City Council meeting, 7 p.m. at the CPN Community Center, 7404 Yorkshire Drive.

This next step in the annexation process, if approved by City Council, will result in a public hearing for citizens to comment on the issue at a later date. The first reading is a procedural step only and is not a public hearing. Should the City Council approve the ordinances tonight on first reading, it is anticipated the public hearing will he held Thursday, Sept. 24.

The ordinances on first reading include those that, if approved at a subsequent public hearing, would annex to the city the three parcels of land comprising The Canyons property and would establish legal and land use agreements permitted under Colorado law.

A series of open house meetings with representatives from The Canyons began in May and continue this week with on-site open houses Friday and Saturday. Please refer to the city's Web site, www.castlepinesgov.com, for further information.
