City snow removal crews working to clear roads

Oct. 29, 2009

To all Castle Pines North citizens:

City snow removal crews have been working around the clock since 10 p.m. Tuesday night to keep city thoroughfares clear of snow accumulations.

Plow routes are conducted similarly to Douglas County snow removal procedures via a priority system. Major roadways, school routes and steep hills are primary; residential streets are secondary, and cul-de-sacs are tertiary.

Due to the amount of snow and windy conditions, with some areas receiving as much as 12-15 inches of snow within the past 36 hours, crews have had to concentrate snow removal efforts on primary streets. With snowy conditions expected through this evening, residential streets are in the process of being plowed and we appreciate everyone's patience while the snow plows get to your area.

Additionally, the city Web site had incorrect snow removal information which has now been updated. If the Web site continues to display incorrect information, refresh your browser – by pressing F5 – to view the updated information.

Please visit the Public Works page for more information. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Public Works Director Eric Guth at 303.887.1297 or 303.705.0200.

Douglas County relinquished snow removal services in May, and the city's public works department is now responsible for performing snow and ice removal on all streets within city boundaries. Neighborhood home owner associations are responsible for clearing their respective properties.
