To all Castle Pines North citizens:
Since the last big snow storm, which occupied the City of Castle Pines North Oct. 27 - 31, City Council and city staff members discussed positive aspects of the snow removal process and areas in which the city can improve.
The city's expectation is that all public streets shall be plowed as quickly as possible; however, crews will continue to plow city streets on a priority basis so that major roadways, school routes and steep hills will be of the highest priority, and residential streets and cul-de-sacs are secondary.
City Council and city staff decided upon a list of changes that will be implemented on future snow and ice maintenance within city limits. The changes include:
- The city will add a third snow plow truck at the beginning of each storm – as opposed to previously dedicating two plow trucks with a third in reserve. By adding a third truck in the beginning, staff will generally be able to commit one truck to plow residential streets at the beginning of each snow storm.
- The city staff will add timelier reporting of snow maintenance activities during winter storms to the city's Web site.
- The city will ensure snow removal crews plow all primary streets from curb to curb, and crews will plow snow into the gutter and onto curbs of residential streets to avoid plowing snow onto the sidewalks.
