Castle Pines North to consider Lagae South annexation eligibility

Dec. 15, 2009

To all Castle Pines North citizens:

The Castle Pines North City Council will consider the next procedural step that is legally required in the Lagae South annexation application during a public hearing at Thursday's City Council meeting, 7 p.m. at the HOA 1 clubhouse, 7233 Tenby Way.

The city will consider whether the application submitted by the property owner of Lagae South, A and A Investments, LLC, is eligible for annexation under Colorado law. The process, at this stage, is a technical assessment of the application documents only.

“As we move forward with the Lagae South eligibility hearing, we are very enthused about the prospect of this area becoming part of our city, and we will continue to keep the citizens of Castle Pines North informed during each step of this important process so that their comments and concerns continue to be heard,” says Mayor Maureen Shul. “This annexation process speaks well of the strides our young city has made.”

City staff first received an annexation petition from A and A Investments on Sept. 23, and City Council determined the annexation petition adequately complied with statutory requirements on Nov. 12.

Lagae South – currently in unincorporated Douglas County – is an area of approximately 354 acres, located west of Interstate 25, north of Happy Canyon Road and east of Castle Pines Village.
