Feb. 25, 2010
To all Ward 1 citizens:
Castle Pines North Ward 1 Councilperson Darwin Horan, citing career conflicts, has resigned his position effective March 9.
Horan submitted a letter of resignation to the City Council at the Feb. 23 meeting. The Council member, a land developer and potential storage water provider, noted he was resigning with regret but said his professional commitments prevent him from devoting the time and attention Ward 1 citizens deserve.
Horan, who was elected Nov. 3, 2009, thanked his Council colleagues for their diligence and perseverance to make Castle Pines North an ideal place to live and work.
At the March 9 meeting, Council will consider a resolution to officially declare the vacancy and establish the process to fill the vacancy by appointment. According to state statute, Council has 60 days to fill the position with a current Ward 1 resident.
If you are a Ward 1 resident and interested in serving on the City Council, submit a letter of interest or resume by Friday, March 12 to City Clerk Carl Kollmar. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of March 15. Council will vote Tuesday, March 23 at the regular Council meeting to fill the vacancy of the two-year term for Ward 1.
Mayor Jeff Huff encourages all interested Ward 1 residents to submit their application for this important role in local government.
“The enthusiastic participation of our citizens in civic matters helps contribute to the success of our community,” says Huff.
