To all Castle Pines North citizens:
City Council appointed Maureen Shul as a Ward 1 council member at the March 23 City Council meeting, replacing former Ward 1 representative Darwin Horan.
Horan submitted his letter of resignation Feb. 23, effective March 9. Council members immediately announced the opening, accepting and reviewing résumés and letters of interest through March 12. After interviewing the three candidates, Council members decided that appointing Shul would be in the best interests of the city and Ward 1 residents.
“I appreciate and thank the council for giving me the privilege of continuing to contribute to the growth and success of our city on behalf of Ward I residents,” said Shul. “I look forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
Shul has lived in Castle Pines North for 10 years, led the city’s incorporation efforts beginning in 2006 and was elected the first mayor of Castle Pines North. She serves as the president of the Castle Pines Economic Development Council and represents the City on the Centennial Airport Citizen Advisory Panel. Shul has served as the president of the Castle Pines Master Association and is currently the president of the Brambleridge homeowner’s association.
As the newest council member, Shul said she hopes to continue the excellent representation of Ward 1 residents, along with Ward 1 Council member Jennifer Havercroft.
Shul will carry out the remainder of the two-year term until the next regular election, which will be held in November 2011.
