Striving for a Community United, Not Divided
City Clears Up Misinformation about Water Integration at Tomorrow’s Meeting

This June, the Castle Pines North Metro District (CPNMD) will be required to present a dissolution plan that outlines how water, wastewater and parks services will be addressed in the future. No one yet knows if CPNMD will submit a plan involving the City as its main partner or whether the plan will include an outside entity, such as Parker Water and Sanitation District – an option which, if ultimately selected by CPNMD and approved by voters, could result in relinquishing local control of Castle Pines’ water resources.

A Local Solution for a United Community
The City of Castle Pines is attempting to integrate CPNMD’s services into the City’s responsibilities to create efficiencies, save money and stabilize the future of our community’s renewable water plan. The City outlined its own plan for dissolution of the CPNMD in the form of an assumption of services intergovernmental agreement (the "Integration IGA”). The goal of integrating water, wastewater and parks services was part of the original incorporation efforts approved by 76% of voters. The City hopes the CPNMD will choose to jointly present the City’s Integration IGA to the Court, publicly support the goal of local service integration and join with the City in asking voters to approve a services agreement transferring responsibility for water, wastewater and parks to the City.

Details will be discussed at the upcoming community meetings at the Community Center beginning at 6 pm:
  • Wednesday, May 11
  • Wednesday, May 18
  • Thursday, June 9

Notification of Road Repairs
Replacement of a concrete street panel at the intersection of Castle Pines Parkway and Debbie Lane began this afternoon. This is to patch utility work from Qwest in the turn lane on east bound Castle Pines Parkway. We will attempt to minimize any inconvenience and impact on traffic by focusing the project into a two-day period. Traffic should resume as normal on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 11.

In addition, the City’s Public Works crews will be patching potholes on Wednesday, May 11 along Castle Pines Parkway, Monarch Boulevard, Buffalo Trail and Daniels Gate Road.
