Castle Pines North swears in new city clerk
CASTLE PINES NORTH, Colo., March 11, 2010 — Sharon DeRouen officially took office as city clerk March 9, when she was sworn in at the Castle Pines North City Council meeting. DeRouen replaces the former city clerk, Janie Berry, who did not run for reelection. No candidates qualified to run for the position last November, creating the vacancy. Council appointed DeRouen to carry out the remainder of the two-year term until the next regular election, which will be held in November 2011. The city clerk’s responsibilities include attending all of the Council’s regular and special meetings and study sessions, and performing administrative duties. The clerk also signs and attests documents to verify signatures on official city documents. DeRouen says she will enjoy this chance to be more involved in the community. “I am looking forward to learning about local government and the duties of city clerk,” says DeRouen. “I am thrilled to serve the City of Castle Pines North and its citizens.” DeRouen has lived in Castle Pines North for five years with her husband and two children. DeRouen can be contacted by e-mailing her at Sharon.DeRouen@cpngov.com or calling 303.705.0200.
